Tools you'll need:  I won't say that you can't get an acting job in this business without a headshot, because there are circumstances under which you can. Not only are those circumstances rare, but you'll look extremely unprofessional with out one. If you're serious about being an actor, you gotta have headshots - and they've got to be updated regularly. If you have an agent, see if they have a preference for any particular photographer's work - very few do. Once you've gotten your contact sheet, always ask your agent to choose the shot to use. Leave your own concepts of your looks and what roles you would be appropriate for on the moon for all the good it does you. Your agent knows what he or she is doing and knows how to market you best, therefore your agent knows best which head shot will be your best tool. Besides, the only way to get you agent to market you for other roles, is to keep acting in theatre, get different roles, and invite him/her to see you. At least you'll have the credits on your resume to show him/her that you can play those roles.

Below is a list of photographers who work in the metro Atlanta area. Pricing is listed as available and is subject to change without notice. I also indicate which photographers I am aware of that will give you the negatives. Should you find any errors or anything that needs updated, email me and I'll take care of it.

So how do you choose which one to work with? Call them, meet them, look at their work - base your decision on how comfortable you feel with him or her. The photographer has to capture you at your best and most natural. If you're uncomfortable with the photographer, it'll show in the pictures, and you'll end up with a roll of shots that are pretty much useless. You'll have wasted your time and your money. Even though most photographers guarantee their work and will reshoot if you're not happy, you're still working with a photographer with whom you feel awkward.
